Olivia Caldeira Holston was born in São Sebastião, Brazil and was raised in California. She recently moved from San Francisco and is now based in New York City. She is a freelance dancer, teacher, choreographer, and photographer. She graduated from the London Contemporary Dance School where she received her BA Honours Degree in 2019. During her studies, she had the opportunity to work with London based choreographers and artists Richard Alston, Malik Nashad-Sharpe, Sasha Roubicek, Simeon Qsyea, Scott Jennings, and Hannes Langolf. Olivia had the honor of learning and performing Merce Cunningham and Batsheva repertoire taught by former company members Jeannie Steele and Chisato Ohno.
She has also attended summer intensives at the Alvin Ailey Professional and Junior Divisions in New York, as well as P.A.R.T.S. and Eastman in Belgium. Since graduating, Olivia has had the opportunity to work with Margaret Jenkins Dance Company, Garrett + Moulton Productions, David Herrera Performance Company, Kristin Damrow & Company, Fullstop Dance, Bellwether Dance Project, Paufve Dance, Jennifer Perfilio Movement Works, Kate Mitchell Creative, A Pulso Dance Project, and Rebecca Morris and Dancers. In addition, Olivia choreographed and performed in the dance video project “SweetWire” directed by Greg Niemeyer at UC Berkeley, and choreographed for the College Preparatory School’s Spring Program in 2022. She has given master classes at Marin Academy and has taught in Shawl Anderson Dance Center’s youth program and adult program as well as in ODC’s youth program and in their Hot Spot Series.
Since her move to NYC, she has danced with sarAika Movement Collective, Urban Tribe, Audrey Thao Berger, and reconnected with Andrea Salazar and performed in the Dance City Festival New York at Dixon Place with A Pulso Dance Project.
Olivia was recently nominated for a Fellowship with the New York Dance Festival and had the opportunity to create new work in the New York City Ballet studios, a solo that was performed at the end of the Fellowship.
